Plymouth’s historic Invicta Hotel has been sold to the owners of The Drake Hotel, off a £1.5m guide price before auction.
The Invicta Hotel, a Grade II listed four-star boutique hotel, boasts 23 en suite bedrooms, the Bowline Restaurant, Bar and Lounge. Dating back to 1852, it is reported to be Plymouth’s oldest lodging house.
On the lower ground floor, a self-contained function room with separate external access features its own bar and cloakrooms, accommodating approximately 65 guests.
The space operates independently from the hotel, enhancing its functionality without disrupting daily operations. Additionally, a terrace at the front of the hotel offers al fresco dining options.
Recent substantial investments have enhanced the first-floor bedrooms, restaurant and function room. The hotel overlooks Plymouth Hoe Park, near the Sea Front, Barbican, Plymouth Pavilions and the city centre.
Savills completed the sale of the Grade II listed hotel on behalf of a private client.
James Greenslade, director of Savills Hotels Capital Markets, said: “We are pleased to have facilitated the sale of this well-presented property on behalf of our clients.
“With the current owners retiring, the Invicta Hotel transitioned to experienced hoteliers from the local area. Given its prime location and potential for further value add opportunities, the hotel is well positioned for continued success under its new ownership.”
Steven Cane, associate of Savills Auctions, added: “After a lot of competition we are delighted to have assisted in a pre-auction sale of the Invicta Hotel. It was a pleasure working alongside our Hotels department and we are pleased to have achieved a positive result for our mutual client.”
