The Ashford International Hotel in Kent was evacuated following a gas leak at its swimming pool which led to 13 people having to be treated by paramedics.
Guests had to be evacuated at around 3:15pm on December 30 from the four-star hotel after guests experienced breathing problems.
Nobody was allowed back inside the hotel until fire crews from Kent Fire and Rescue ensured it was safe. Guests were allowed back later that afternoon and the 179-room accommodation remained open on Sunday evening.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it was investigating alongside Public Health England and Ashford Borough Council.
Kent and Fire Service said in a statement: “Firefighters were called to reports of a gas leak at a hotel’s swimming pool in Simone Weil Avenue, Ashford.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus and gas-tight suits carried out a search and made the scene safe while paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service’s hazardous area response team treated 13 people who presented themselves for assessment.”
