A Blackpool hotel continued to take guest booking orders despite being ordered to close over healthy and safety issues.
According to a report by the BBC, the 36-room Cornhill Hotel ignored a prohibition notice in August 2018 and council improvement notices, after the hotel had received numerous complaints from guests over the condition of the hotel.
Fire safety officer Stephen Simm at Lancashire Fire Service told the BBC that the issues at the hotel included a faulty fire alarm system and inflammable materials near exits, and said that the conditions were “so serious they put anyone staying there at risk of death or serious injury”.
Lancashire Fire Service and Blackpool Council said they are now considering a prosecution over a “blatant disregard” for safety.
