Dakota Hotels has appointed Matt Townley as general manager for its upcoming Dakota Manchester hotel, which is set to open on 18 May 2019.
Townley, formerly of Principal Hotels, Malmaison and Devere Resorts brings over 15 years’ experience to the role. Additionally, Alexa Cherry has been appointed as director of sales, and joins from Living Ventures flagship restaurant, Australasia, with time spent at Eclectic Hotel Collection prior to that.
Tom Kelly also joins as front of house manager. According to the brand, he brings with him a “wealth of hospitality expertise”, including his “notable” responsibility for orchestrating the front of house team during the NATO Summit at Celtic Manor.
Located on Ducie Street, close to Piccadilly Station, the new property features 137 bedrooms, including 27 suites. The brand said the penthouse suite, named the Grand Deluxe, is set to be the “largest and most elegant suite in the city”.
Townley said: “We’re very fortunate at Dakota to have hotels that are thoughtfully designed and incredibly well appointed. This allows me to focus my energy on ensuring the team are mentored, challenged, empowered and on the same mission. In essence, my job is to deliver the simple things brilliantly.”
