Budget hotel chain Travleodge has opened its first of two hotels in Wiltshire, with the latter set for later this year.

Swindon West Travelodge represents an investment of £6m for third party investors and features 70 rooms an on-site restaurant, called the Bar Café and free car-parking. It is the closest hotel to the popular Swindon Designer Outlet and is Travelodge’s 582nd hotel and it’s second in Swindon.

Swindon West Travelodge was officially opened by Gary Steele, Travelodge regional director for the South-West and Huw Huckridge, district manager for Wiltshire. It is the first of two properties Travelodge is opening in Wiltshire this year, the other Travelodge is located in Chippenham and scheduled to open later this year.

Gary Steele, Travelodge South West Regional Director said: “We are delighted to open the first of our two hotels that we are opening in Wiltshire this year. Collectively these two hotels represent an investment of £11 million for third party investors and a job creation of 40.

“With the county attracting record visitor numbers there is a shortage of great quality and good value accommodation. Therefore to fulfil this gap we have opened a second hotel in Swindon and our first Travelodge in Chippenham. These additions offer even more choice to travellers and boost our local network to eight hotels across the county.”

He added: “Swindon West Travelodge is the closest located hotel to the popular designer outlet and is ideally located to service business and leisure travellers visiting Swindon. This is also great news for the local economy as our research shows; customers will spend double their room rate with local businesses during their stay. This equates to an annual spend of nearly £2m.”

Swindon West Travelodge is managed by Aneta Kopysc who started at Travelodge in 2011 as a receptionist at Burford Cotswolds Travelodge before progressing through the company’s in-house management programme.

Kopysc said: “I am delighted to be managing the closest hotel to Swindon Designer Outlet, which attracts visitors from across the UK. We have got to a flying start and with room rates from £29, we are gearing up for a very busy 2019.

“I am very proud to have built a fantastic team who are as passionate as me about delivering great customer service and going the extra mile for our customers. I am also looking forward to developing my team members to become hotel managers of the future; just like the opportunity I was given.”
