Guests had to be evacuated from The White Hart hotel in Launceston in the early hours of this morning (30 July) after a fire broke out through the roof of the property.

Fire crews from Cornwall Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at around 01:52am this morning after reports of a fire from the Hotel’s annex roof. All guests were safely evacuated and nobody was hurt.

A statement from Cornwall Fire and Rescue said: “One fire appliance from Launceston, one fire appliance from Callington, one fire appliance from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service’s (DSFRS) Holsworthy Fire Station and an aerial ladder platform from DSFRS Crownhill were mobilised following several 999 calls reporting a fire in a roof.

“On arrival, the crew from Launceston requested a further fire appliance, which was mobilised from Liskeard.  Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly knocked down the fire in the roof space of an annex section of a hotel, measuring five metres by thirty metres.”
