Hotel guests and staff were evacuated after the discovery of the fire, all of which were accounted for, and there were no reported injuries.
At the height of the blaze more than 50 firefighters were tackling the fire at the hotel, which was described by West Midlands Fire Service as “severe”.
Some 25 firefighters battled throughout the night and remained at the scene of fire on Saturday (3 August) to extinguish any small pockets of fire that remained.
Investigators later confirmed that the fire at property was started accidentally, in a sauna.
