Hotel Riviera has been awarded the “prestigious” Visit England Rose 2019 award.

The award recognised the Sidmouth site’s “assiduous dedication to providing service excellence”.

Designed to recognise UK hotel’s dedication to service, the award had a shortlist of 100 locations this year.

In order to receive the award, Hotel Riviera had to “demonstrate their offering of more than just a place to rest”, with recognition of its “tasteful” rooms, “fine cuisine” and “dedicated and experienced staff”.

Hotel managing director, Peter Wharton, said: “The Rose Awards are an accolade that hotels strive for nationwide, the Riviera receiving this 2019 Rose has created a buzz amongst our talented team.

“Giving them all the spark to continue the service excellence that has contributed towards this win.”

He added: “We look forward to many more years of offering an exciting Sidmouth destination.”

VisitEngland director Andrew Stokes said: “The Rose Awards highlights those businesses who go above and beyond for their customers, providing the highest levels of customer service and ensuring repeat business, driving visitor growth and boosting local economies.”

Hotel Riviera has been run by the Wharton family for over 45 years. The Rose Award is the third Visit England Award won by the site.
