The Hydro Hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere has closed its doors to undergo a multi-million pound refurbishment and is expected to reopen in August this year.
The 78-bedroom hotel is set to transform its existing site, which includes a redesign of all guest rooms, function space alongside a new restaurant, open plan bar and a new front office area.
Last year, Thailand-based hospitality group Lake Merritt Group acquired the hotel and awarded Scottish-based asset management company 7 Hospitality Management the contract.
Gary Hume, head of property at 7 Hospitality Management said: “This is a substantial investment by the hotel owners who recognise the opportunity that this hotel really has in this buoyant market place.
“7 Hospitality Management is delighted to work alongside Julian Handy at architects Mason Gillibrand and the team at Baker Mallet to realise this hotel’s potential. This hotel, once complete, will become a hotel of choice in this tourist destination.”
