Hotel developer Zeal Hotels submitted plans to develop a proposed Holiday Inn Express hotel in Weston-Super-Mare.
The developers have now applied to North Somerset Council to secure permission for the redesign and repositioning of the proposed site.
The Weston Gateway Business Park site will reportedly be four storeys high, with 119 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, as well as conference rooms and parking.
Tim Wheeldon, managing director of Zeal Hotels, said: “Weston Super Mare is historically a holiday destination however there is a considerable amount of commercial demand for hotel accommodation within the immediate area.
“The quality of the hotel and the proximity to J21 of the M5 will ensure a good cross section of business & leisure trade. Subject to planning, we hope to open the hotel in June 2021.”
He added: “We are excited about this opportunity and this will be our third hotel in Somerset. The Holiday Inn Express Bridgwater opened in May 2019 and we are presently constructing an Ibis Hotel and Keepers Bar & Restaurant at Woodlands Court Business Park, Bridgwater which is scheduled to open in November 2020.”
Gemma Day, director of Dowlas UK, said: “We are pleased to have agreed terms with Zeal Hotels and are looking forward to finally seeing a quality landmark hotel opening on the Weston Gateway Business Park.”
“The Holiday Inn Express is a worldwide recognised brand and it will complement the existing uses on the business park well.”
