Hilton Sheffield to rebrand as The Quays Hotel

The former Sheffield-based four-star Hilton Hotel, which closed before Christmas resulting in 100 job losses, is set to reopen next month under a new brand.

Legacy Hotels and Resorts has been appointed to manage the property, following its recent sale to an undisclosed buyer, as The Quays Hotel Sheffield.

Hilton had managed the hotel situated on Furnival Road for 20 years, and decided to “surrender” its lease last year. The hotel group’s portfolio includes the Rose and Crown hotel in Wiltshire, Southampton-based Chilworth Manor and Wychwood Park hotel in Crewe.

Andy Towsend, chief executive of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to take on the management of the former Hilton hotel on behalf of the new Sheffield-based owning company.

“Having previously worked for Stakis Hotels back in its day I recall the hotel’s opening with fondness and the enthusiasm it drove to that part of the city – I hope in time we can rekindle those emotions and support.”

He added: “We are currently evaluating branding options to support the development of the business moving forward and suspect we will come to some early decisions very soon.”
