Plans to transform three warehouses in Gloucester into a waterfront hotel has been approved by Gloucester City Council.
According to Gloucestershire Live, plans submitted aims to turn the vacant Herbert, Kimberley and Phillpotts Warehouses overlooking the “mian basin into a new hotel for the city.”
Dowdeswell Estates, which is currently restoring The Fleece Hotel in Westgate Street, confirmed it has submitted a bid for the site.
A spokesperson for Dowdeswell Estate told Gloucestershire Live, said: “We can confirm that Dowdeswell Estates have submitted a bid for the Herbert, Kimberly and Phillpotts building. We are unable to make any further comment at this time.”
Gloucester currently has several smaller hotels as well as Travelodge and Premier Inn at the Quays, but no major independent hotels feature on the inland waterfront.
