A landmark Sheffield Hotel has re-opened for business.
Formerly the Sheffield Hilton, The Quays Hotel, located at Victoria Quays in the city’s emerging Canal Basin area, will now be operated by Legacy Hotels.
The rebrand of the four-star hotel and leisure club comes after the property’s “sudden closure” late last year. Following the completion of recruitment plans, the hotel is welcoming back 35% of previous staff out of a total of 60.
The property, which originally opened under the ownership and branding of Stakis Hotels, features 128 bedrooms, a spa with a gym and swimming pool, meeting spaces and is home to the Quays Restaurant.
Legacy Hotels and Resorts chief executive, Andy Townsend, said: “The Quays joins the Best Western group of hotels across the UK where it becomes a Best Western Plus hotel.
“It has been a very busy and exciting time as we bring back The Quays as one of the premier hotels in the Sheffield City Region to stay and to enjoy top class leisure and well-being facilities, corporate entertaining and a strong programme of events.”
He added: “Over the years the hotel has been popular with guests, diners and leisure facility users alike. It has tremendous potential where we will also seek to build on its popularity as an event location.”
