Focus Hotels donates to Covid-19 appeal

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Focus Hotels Management announced that it raised funds for the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 appeal in light of the ongoing pandemic.

The hotel group pledged a £5 donation for every booking taken at its reopened Mercure Hatfield Oak in Hatfield, a site that is now providing accommodation to NHS staff and other key workers during the pandemic.

The CEO of Focus Hotels Management, Peter Cashman, also contributed to the total donated, with the charity receiving £1,600 in total.

It follows the group’s recent reopening of the DoubleTree by Hilton Heathrow, Doubletree by Hilton Bristol City, Sketchley Grange Hotel and Spa in Hinckley, Mercure Albrighton Hall Hotel in Shrewsbury and Ibis Styles, Reading.

Lynn Hood, chief operating officer of Focus Hotels, said: “We have kept a number of hotels open for key workers but the idea of also being able to support the fight against coronavirus via donation is just one way we can give back to those on the front line.

“With our CEO making a personal donation and gift aid we were able to maximise the amount from the hotel in Hatfield from the 30-day period.”

Focus Hotels currently holds a portfolio of 17 hotels, both under development and in planning, with a total of 1,798 bedrooms.
