Royal Clifton Hotel and Spa in the Merseyside town of Southport has been brought to market on a “serious offers invited basis”, having previously been brought to market off a guide price of £6m.
The 120-en suite bedroom hotel which has been owned and operated by D’Urberville Hotels since 2015, has decided to sell as part of a “planned exit strategy”.
The business, which trades within a franchise agreement under the Sure Stay Hotel Collection by Best Western, compromises nine function rooms which cater for up to 300 guests, a lounge, restaurant, and bar areas, and a leisure club and health spa that is open to both residents and members.
The hotel pre Covid-19 boasted a “strong RevPAR performance” within its competitor set which is reflected in the business sales mix.
The Royal Hotel is a Grade II Listed building which has been developed over the years, most notably when it was joined with the adjacent Clifton Hotel in 1980.
Ryan Lynn, director of corporate hotels at Christie and Co, who is handling the sale, said: “This is a great hotel, well known throughout the area and has such potential as the UK hotel sector and travel industry reopens over the coming weeks.”
