The Cranleigh Boutique hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere is to offer the sole use of the hotel to one competition winner, following the news that the hotel received 100,000 likes on its Facebook page.
The hotel, which in October won the ‘Best use of Facebook’ award at the 2014 UK Social Media Awards, is inviting its followers to enter a competition on its Facebook page, where participants will have 20 words to explain why they should win the ‘Ultimate Prize’.
The prize was announced in June 2013 by Cranleigh’s owner, Stephen Hargreaves, who said that upon reaching 100,000 likes on Facebook, one winner would win free use of The Cranleigh Boutique in its entirety, for the duration of a weekend, a prize estimated to be worth £8,500.
The 10 responses deemed to be the best by The Cranleigh Boutique will be published on Facebook, with the winner being chosen by the hotel’s Facebook followers.
Hargreaves said: “We have been looking forward to the ‘Ultimate Prize’ for eighteen months and are finally in a position to choose a lucky winner. Such a prize has never been given by a private hotel in the UK before, so we are obviously experiencing a huge level of engagement at the moment.
“As impatient as everybody is, we will be selecting a winner in the fairest way possible and can’t wait to welcome them to the hotel. ‘The Ultimate Prize’ has also been our way of saying ‘thank-you’ to everybody for their support on Facebook.”
A winner is expected to be announced in two weeks’ time.
