Swinton Park hotel in Ripon, North Yorkshire has received planning permission for a 2,700 sq m country club and spa within its grounds.

The £5.5m development will include an indoor swimming pool, a spa and fitness facilities, and will involve the creation of 25 new full-time jobs.

In addition there will be a 40-seat conservatory restaurant, coffee shop and a Swinton Estate shop. The country club will also offer access to activities on the hotel’s surrounding parkland, lakes and gardens, including cycling, walking, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, golf, falconry and riding.

Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, the owner of Swinton Park, said: “We are thrilled to be able to move forward with this project, which will be a valuable asset to local businesses, communities and visitors alike. We hope it will enable Swinton Park to realise its full potential within the tourism industry.”
