Hospitality investment and development firm Union Hannover Securities has been given the green light to develop a dual hotel scheme in London’s Stratford City – which will cost £126m.
The development in East Village will include a 12-storey tower, 249-bedroom Penny Brook Hotel, which will include restaurants and cafes at ground floor level, and conference and event space with a terrace incorporated into its second floor.
The development also includes an adjacent 137-bedroom Adagio aparthotel, featuring 95 studios and 42 one-bedroom apartments.
The planning permission for the project was supported by the The London Legacy Development Quality Review Panel, which said the development “promises a unique and characterful addition to the International Quarter.”
Eric Jafari, managing director of Union Hanover Securities, said: “The unanimous backing of the London Legacy Development Corporation shows that they are as committed as we are to adding a new element of character to the Stratford masterplan. The planners share our vision of creating a leisure-led cultural quarter.”
The development, which has been designed by architects Grzywinski + Pons and managed by Tower8, is expected to begin before the year end.
