Wetherspoon plans new £10m Glasgow hotel

Pub company JD Wetherspoon has revealed plans to build a 73-bedroom hotel next to its Crystal Palace pub in Glasgow

The £10m development, which is subject to planning permission, will include the addition of 28 bedrooms above the pub and an extension to the property that will include a further 45 bedrooms.

Wetherspoon, which said the development would create 30 jobs, has met with planning officers and is in the process of progressing its application.

A spokesperson for Wetherspoon said: “We are keen to open a new hotel alongside and above our pub, The Crystal Palace, in Glasgow. We believe that the hotel would be a great asset to the city and to the pub itself.”

Wetherspoon currently operates 36 hotels in the UK, including seven across Scotland.
