Bath Mill Lodge Retreat to open in Bath

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

A new lodge retreat is set to open in Bath, Somerset, following a 10-month and £4.5m redevelopment of the former Newton Mill Holiday Park.

Operated by Darwin Escapes, Bath Mill Lodge Retreat will offer 63 self-catering lodges, which will include up to four bedrooms, aimed at both leisure and business travellers and will be designed to the standards of a five star hotel, according to the company.

The retreat, which is expected to open in August, will also feature bar and bistro – named The Brook – and a conference and events space, along with free Wi-Fi, bluetooth docking stations and flat-screen TVs.

Lindsey Bamford, managing director of Darwin Escapes, said: “As we put together the finishing touches ready for opening the doors of Bath Mill to the public later this summer, the team is hugely looking forward to welcoming guests.

“Not only will we be welcoming tourists and holidaymakers, but we will be working hard to attract business travellers who are looking for a home-from-home experience with a luxury hotel feel. We will also be looking to raise our profile as a venue for conferences, functions and events, making it a highly valuable new addition for the Bath area.”

Darwin Escapes has opened a number of new holiday destinations in recent years and now offers 14 resorts, retreats and holiday parks located around the UK, including Cheddar Woods in Somerset, Piran Meadows in Cornwall and Beach Cove in Devon.
