In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

TripAdvisor has announced it has completed the launch of instant booking for hotels across all US and UK platforms.

The service has been gradually rolled out in the US since its launch in June 2014, but instant booking is now available to all US and UK users on desktop and mobile.  The launch to other international markets will follow in the coming weeks and months.

TripAdvisor’s instant booking allows users to compare prices and then book through hotel and online travel agency partners without leaving the TripAdvisor site.

Hotels available for instant booking have a prominent ‘book’ button, and users that click this button can easily complete their reservation on TripAdvisor, with the transaction and customer care provided by the hotel partner.

TripAdvisor’s existing ‘partners’ on the service include Marriott International, Hyatt Hotels, and La Quinta Inns and Suites, and the roster also includes other global brands such as Choice HotelsAccor, Best Western International, Carlson Rezidor, Mandarin Oriental, and Langham Hospitality.

The firm says six of the top 10 global hotel brands are now using its instant booking platform. TripAdvisor has more than 60 chains, hotel groups and OTA partners signed and more than 235,000 properties are instantly bookable.

Stephen Kaufer, president and CEO of TripAdvisor, said: “We continue to build momentum with instant booking and more and more travellers are experiencing the benefit of being able to plan, compare and book hotels on TripAdvisor.

“The feedback from our users and our partners has been very positive and we’re eager to continue the expansion of instant booking in markets across the globe.”
