One of Edinburgh’s largest city centre hotels has been acquired following a multi-million pound deal with Leonardo Hotels, the European arm of Israeli Fattal Hotels Group.
Designed by the late Scottish architect Andrew Doolan, the 282-room Morrison Street property is considered an icon among Edinburgh hotels.
Doolan, along with fellow majority shareholders Sandy Orr and Donald MacDonald, initiated the build of the property in partnership with Whitbread and has since hosted over two million guests.
Orr said: “Donald and I, with Pat Findlay on behalf of Andy’s family, are pleased to see this large, beautifully designed hotel pass to Leonardo Hotels.
“Expertly operated by Whitbread for over twenty years, we look forward to seeing the hotel continue its significant contribution to Edinburgh’s hospitality sector.”
