In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Great integration between your property management system (PMS) and an electronic point of sale (EPoS) enables a smoother and more seamless service to your customers and for your staff.

With many point of sale areas within a hospitality business such as golf shop, spa, bar & restaurant, being able to post charges to the PMS, it is important to highlight the importance of a highly capable well thought out interface between a PMS and EPoS to achieve accurate guest billing which in turn creates happy customers on departure.

Of course, non-integrated PMS can work for your business but with a busy hotel and a team who are high in demand, mistakes can easily happen resulting in the manual process of adding sales to bills sometimes being incorrectly inputted or even forgotten entirely. This can amount to a considerable loss in revenue over a year as well as guest frustration on check out.

Interfaces between the PMS and EPoS systems are now becoming more intelligent. The information which is often known about a guest such as the arrival date, number of persons, package and departure date are now accessible on software throughout the businesses providing a seamless flow of information.

Many businesses get by with a simple or basic interface. Don’t. Insist on a ‘highly functional interface’ which allows payment to be split to rooms and ensure the interface can handle inclusive meal allocations such as dinner and breakfast. This advanced feature allows restaurant charges to be absorbed by the PMS when the guest is on an ‘inclusive package’ and can save hours of admin for the front of house staff.

Whether you are charging to a guest’s room bill, an event bill or management bill, the property management system can retrieve and display details of the EPoS sale in detail to quickly resolve any billing queries raised by a guest on departure, resulting in less wait time and faster checkouts.
