The May Fair Hotel has capitalised on the growing trend of cosy, outdoor smoking areas (COSAs) by creating The Cigar Room.
Designed by Graham Cox, it is a visually pleasant environment featuring swing chairs; day-beds; chainmail mesh walls; and live fireplaces.
“We are transforming perceptions of 5-star luxury for cigar enthusiasts,” said the May Fair’s general manager Anthony Lee.
“All are welcome, particularly the growing number of women who appreciate cigars but don’t wish to feel unwelcome or out of place – as is the case in so many traditional smoking areas.”
Aimed at both the aficionado and newcomer alike, the Cigar Room boasts a humidor that houses 40 varieties of cigar from brands such as Cohiba and Montecristo.
<>Cigar sommeliers, trained and certified by the exclusive suppliers of Cuban cigars to the UK Hunters &Frankau, are on hand to help clients choose a cigar and select a cocktail to match. The Cigar Room will also host monthly master classes for those looking to immerse themselves in the ritual of cigar tasting.
Lead sommelier at the Cigar Room Sophia Christoforidou said: “We have hunted far and wide to indulge our patrons with superior and exciting products.
“We have created a well-rounded experience with complementary tastes and flavours that will appeal to the aficionado as well as those seeking a new experience in a comfortable yet luxurious and stylish area.”
