Artist Residence to open fourth hotel

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Boutique hotel group Artist Residence has announced it will open its fourth hotel later this year in South Leigh, Oxfordshire.

Owners Justin and Charlotte Salisbury are currently refurbishing the property, which is expected to launch in February as a five-bedroom country pub and restaurant.

The property also features a cottage, outbuildings and stables, all with feature-pitched ceilings, and additional work later in the year will see these transformed into a further seven bedroom in the husband and wife team’s signature style.

The Salisbury’s will oversee the design of the hotel, restoring original features including flagstone flooring, dark oak panelling, rustic beams and exposed stone and brick. They have also picked a variety of decorations and artwork from their favourite auction houses.

Meanwhile, artists The Connor Brothers will be working closely with the hotel on a bespoke collection of work for the bar, focussed around their fictional character, Mr Hanbury.

A statement from the owners read: “We are extremely excited to be able to share our latest project with you, we’re off to the countryside to restore an old pub to its former glory.”
