Rockliffe Hall’s spa director becoming industry expert with European recognition

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Rockliffe Hall’s spa director has become one of the UK’s leading experts in her sector – securing key roles at European events in the process and recently speaking at SIBEC Europe, a major conference for hundreds of members of the health, fitness and leisure market.

Liz Holmes, who was appointed as spa director in 2009, when Rockliffe Hall’s 50,000 square feet spa was launched, has made the spa one of the most recognised in the UK scooping the Spa Professional of the Year title in 2011. She has also this year been invited to speak at prestigious spa and wellbeing events.

She was a key speaker at the Annual Hotel Conference alongside former footballer Gary Neville, Jeremy Hunt MP and the chief executive of VisitEngland James Beresford. She was also a judge at this year’s Catey awards, regarded as the hotel and catering industry’s leading award ceremony.

The Rockliffe Hall director said the opportunity to speak was a great way to “share some of the developments” that are being implemented at Rockliffe Hall.

“I feel it’s important that spas do more than just offer beauty and relaxation – of course these will always be important but we try to go further, offering practical advice that guests can use in their everyday lives.

“All of the team works hard to make Rockliffe Hall a world class spa and, despite only launching in 2009, we’re certainly on the map,” said the spa expert.
