Salto launches ‘interactive’ hotel lock

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Salto Systems has launched its new AElement Fusion hotel lock with interactive features.

The electronic lock has a “sleek” reader and an interactive light ring which lights up when access is presented. The electronic components are installed in hotel doors, eliminating the need for external hardware and making the system “virtually invisible”.

The new AElement Fusion will allow hotel guests to lock and unlock rooms using their smartphones, when used with Salto’s JustIN Mobile app.

The lock is also compatible with RFID, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Additionally, the lock uses the Cloud enabling guests to receive their room key online at any time.

Rob Zijl, vice president of Salto Systems, said: “The small, customizable light ring reader of AElement Fusion provides a discreet electronic lock for hotels looking to deploy electronic access control with a stylish, yet technologically-advanced solution.

“To keep up with our latest innovations – such as our JustIN Mobile app – an update of our hardware was necessary, which is why we launched AElement Fusion.”

He added: “BLE and NFC technology provides the perfect complement to traditional contactless access cards giving hotel guests the choice of two technologies to open doors if they wish.

“And by integrating AElement Fusion’s design with the benefits of SALTO’s Bluetooth Low Energy platform, it is able to deliver a richer, smarter hospitality experience for guests, freeing up front desk staff, improving security and hotel management, and saving on operational costs.”
