Flemings Hotel, based in the heart of Mayfair, has launched its national ‘Mayfair back in the game’ campaign to get Mayfair back in its rightful place on the Monopoly board.
To kick off the campaign a giant Monopoly boot has been placed outside the hotel, with four Pennybags characters spreading the word around the streets of London that ‘Mayfair is missing’.
In 2011 in an unexpected roll of the dice, Mayfair was taken off the latest electronic Monopoly board and replaced by upmarket usurper Kensington Palace Gardens in a decision made by the makers of the game, Hasbro.
Led by Flemings Hotel, the residents and workers of Mayfair are backing a campaign to get the luxury heart of London that is Mayfair, back on the board where it belongs.
This launch also marks the start of an independent ePetition conducted by Flemings to get as many signatures of support from the general public as possible. The aim is to get Hasbro to reverse its decision and reinstate Mayfair to its rightful place next to ‘Go’.
Colin Exton, campaign chairman says, “Mayfair is synonymous with style, and has been the luxury heart of London for centuries. All over the world people know the exclusivity of Mayfair from its position on the Monopoly board, even if they have never visited London before. It is this heritage that has driven us to right this wrong and get Mayfair back in the game.”
Supporters who have already signed up to the campaign include Killik & Co, Mayfair Times, and Mayfair estate agent Wetherell. To sign the ePetition, please visit www.mayfairismissing.co.uk.
