Skills Show calls for volunteer team leaders

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

The UK’s largest skills and careers event is calling for professionals within the hospitality sector to volunteer as team leaders at the 2013 event, which will be held in Birmingham at the NEC from 14 to 16 November 2013.

The Skills Show provides the opportunity for young people to be inspired about opportunities in further education, skills and apprenticeships. Around 750 volunteers help to deliver the event, working with staff from the Skills Show and to help supervise these volunteers, 15 volunteer team leaders are needed between 8 to 18 November. In return for their time, the team leaders receive full training, accredited qualifications, hotel accommodation, meals and a contribution towards travel costs.

Phil Quinn from the Skills Funding Agency, a volunteer team leader at the 2012 event, commented: “The Skills Show is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in an event that showcases the best of British skills. Being a team leader is a fabulous way to work with a variety of people from a cross-section of society, all of whom are interested in vocational skills and want to give something back to the skills arena. I would highly recommend it if you’re passionate about planning, organising, motivating and inspiring.”

If you think you have what it takes to become a volunteer team leader at the Skills Show or know somebody who would be ideal for the role, please visit www.theskillsshow.com/volunteer. Applications are now open and will close on 14 May. A selection day for shortlisted candidates will be held at the NEC on 22 May 2013. General applications to volunteer at The Skills Show will open shortly.
