Leonardo Hotels, a brand owned by the European hotelier Fattal Hotels Group, has reached an agreement to lease a hotel at Pall Mall Liverpool.
The 284-bedroom property will be Leonardo’s first operation in Liverpool, and marks a continued UK expansion for the group following recent acquisitions in Manchester, Edinburgh, and London.
The four-star hotel will also feature a restaurant, bar and cafe, gym, wellness suite, alongside co-working and meeting facilities.
Jason Carruthers, managing director at Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland, called the development an “ideal opportunity” for the firm to “establish its first presence” in the city.
He said: “Our decision to proceed with the project, even during a particularly challenging period for the hotel and hospitality sector, signals our optimism for the scheme and its ambition to further enhance the city’s reputation as a leading business destination.
“The opportunity to become a part of Liverpool’s vibrant city centre economy at a time of real growth and transformation is a privilege, and we look forward to seeing the development begin to take shape.”
There are intentions to commence construction in Q3 of 2021, with the hotel forming just one part of a 400,000 sq ft development project.
The wider scheme will include office, retail, and leisure facilities in an effort to expand Liverpool’s commercial business district (CBD).
Henry Martin, senior development manager at Kier Property, who is developing the site, said: “The Leonardo brand will be a great addition and amenity to both the scheme and Liverpool city centre. The hotel and its offer supports our vision and place making strategy for Pall Mall.”
