In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Northcote Leisure Group has seen group turnover increase 8% to £11m, according to accounts for the year March 31 2017 filed at Companies House.

The group is made up of the four-red-AA-star Northcote Hotel in Langho, Lancashire, the newly-opened Café Northcote, Northcote at the Rovers and Ribble Valley Inns.

At the 26-bedroom Northcote Hotel, which holds a Michelin star and was named AA Hotel of the Year England 2016/17, revenue increased by 11%  as revenue streams from additional bedrooms, private dining, the chef’s table and cookery school continued to mature.

Occupancy was 64.6%, with an average room rate of £149 and RevPAR of £96.

Revenue was described as ‘steady’ at Cafe Northcote, which opened its doors on June 8 2016, bringing in £375,000 to the accounts.

Revenue at Northcote at the Rovers declined by 8% in the year, with both events and match day revenue suffering. Both of these are attributed to the football club’s performance.

Ribble Valley Inns turnover reportedly decreased by 0.6% in the year as a result of increased competition at some sites.

Craig Bancroft, managing director of the group, in the report said: “2017 has been a turbulent year with the economic uncertainty caused by Britain’s’ decision to leave the EU. Given the climate we are happy to report an increase in operating performance compared to last year.”
