The Boundary Hotel in London and the Pig Hotel in the heart of the New Forest were the winners at the Independent Hotel show awards ceremony.
Sir Terence Conran, Lady Conran and Peter Prescottof the Boundary Hotel were named as the winners of the Independent Hotelier of the Year, while the Pig was named Outstanding New Hotel of the Year.
This was the first time an award was presented to honour hotels within the independent, luxury and boutique sector, which have demonstrated success in their first three years of trading and as renowned London hotelier Jeremy Goring commented it was a hotly contested category. He said: “The calibre of the shortlist chosen by the nominations committee reflected the very high standard of new independent, boutique and luxury hotels that have opened across the UK in the last three years and their dynamic presence in this market. Hopefully this award will encourage those looking to enter the sector to take that first step.”
Accepting the award from Jeremy was owner of the Pig Hotel, Robin Hutson who added: “We are delighted to be recognised for this award, especially as it is nominated by industry experts and voted for by our fellow peers. Since opening we have gone from strength to strength, I’m really proud of the team for all their hard work and dedication. Next year we will open a further two properties so it’s a really exciting time for us.”
Jeremy also presented the Independent Hotelier of the Year Award to Sir Terence Conran, Lady Conran and Peter Prescott, joint partners of the Boundary Hotel in East London. Commenting on receiving the award, Sir Terence said: “It is almost five years since we opened Boundary and we are delighted to get this very special and personal award. We like to think it recognises the love, attention to detail and individuality of our little hotel in the heart of Shoreditch. A lot of our own character went in to the design and planning and we have enjoyed keeping this very personal project well-maintained while also introducing new ideas.”
