Legacy Hotels and Resorts has appointed James Mahaffey as director of sales at the New Place Hotel in Southampton.
Mahaffey has joined the hotel just after the completion of a £1.3m refurbishment programme on the bedrooms, which is the first phase of a broader refurbishment and development plan for the estate.He has worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and has worked for InterContinental Hotels Group and Laura Ashley Hotels.
Richard Powell, general manager at New Place, said: “As director of sales at [the hotel] James is responsible for working with the team to develop and promote the hotel to both corporate and consumer markets.
“The excellent meetings and function facilities at the hotel provide the ideal location for a wide variety of corporate and leisure events, for national and international clients. With our wonderful offering and the current refurbishment programme, James has joined at an exciting time for New Place Hotel.”
