RBH celebrates 50th new build hotel

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

RBH has marked  its 50th new build development since the year 2000 with the recent opening of Hampton by Hilton Manchester Northern Quarter.

According to the hotel management company the build brings “what has been a challenging year for the entire hospitality industry to a positive end”.

The Hampton by Hilton Hotel officially opened in Manchester in November and houses 223 guest bedrooms, a gym and meeting room facilities.

Gregor MacNaughton, chief technical officer at RBH, said: “We were thrilled to open Hampton by Hilton Manchester Northern Quarter last month, not only because we’re delighted to work yet again with Maven and Hilton, but because the opening represented such a significant milestone for RBH.

“It’s hard to believe that in 20 years we’ve undertaken 50 new-build openings,  I don’t think there are any other operators in the UK with a track record like ours on that front. It makes

us quite unique within the third-party management industry. That number doesn’t even include the multiple bedroom extensions, refurbishments and hotel rebranding projects we’ve managed.”

He added: “Not only was our first development project being built in an iconic location, but we also decided we wanted the hotel to be the first Holiday Inn at Heathrow because it was, and still is, one of the most well-known international hotel brands.

“The decision really paid off, as the hotel was an immediate success, giving us the confidence to continue to build and develop across the UK.”
