Valor Hospitality Partners has appointed Michael Magrane as its new operations director, as he joins Mark Thacker and Ed Cross to oversee the running of the 37 hotels in the hotel management company’s UK portfolio.

He brings with him over 25 years of  experience in the hotel and hospitality industry, including two years as chief operating officer at Leaf Hospitality

Magrane’s role will be centred around driving “operational excellence” across the group’s portfolio, which more than doubled in size over the course of the past year. He will also be helping to develop talent within the business.

Magrane said: “I wanted to join Valor as it is an incredibly well-respected business within the hospitality industry, especially in relation to the great culture the team has created. People really are at the heart of what they do, and you can feel that through every interaction with the team.

“Couple that with Valor’s exceptional growth over the past year, the business is doing everything right and is clearly headed in an amazing direction, something that I’m really looking forward to being a part of.”

Brian McCarthy, managing director of UK and Europe at Valor Hospitality, added: “It’s definitely an exciting time to be joining Valor, with our expanded portfolio and new development projects in the pipeline, we’re always looking to strengthen our team with incredible talent, so we can continue to take our business to the next level. We’re confident that Michael will help us to do just that and that he’ll be an invaluable asset to the Valor family.”
