Hilton Brighton Metropole completes £26m refurbishment

The hotel’s new look features a combination of classic and contemporary décor, statement furniture and bold artwork

Hilton Brighton Metropole has finished a £26m refurbishment which includes a brand-new presidential suite.

All the bedrooms, meeting and events spaces, public areas, restaurant and the reception lobby have been renovated. The presidential suite will now offer three bedrooms and bathrooms, a “sumptuous” living room area and a balcony with a direct sea view.

The hotel’s restaurant ‘1890 At The Met’ and the Metropole Bar and Terrace will present expansive windows to showcase the view as well as an outdoor seating area for alfresco dining.

The new meeting rooms will be able to accommodate 3,000 guests, making them the largest residential event spaces in the South East of England.

The hotel’s interiors were designed by Atellior, who took inspiration from Brighton’s art scene, drawing on the heritage of the city, and the Metropole building itself. The style adopted enhances the historical fabric of the hotel and celebrates other noted buildings in the area such as the Grade II listed Duke of York Theatre, the oldest cinema in the UK, with art deco style cinema lighting and vintage movie posters.

The colour scheme of the refurbishment reflects the vibrancy of the city’s colourful houses, beach huts and ocean landscape which have been combined to include a range of warming pinks, calming blues, greys and teals to express the hotel’s contemporary feel.

Rekha Sohun, the hotel’s general manager, said: “We are truly delighted with the refurbishment, we recognise the needs of our guests and want to deliver the best experience possible. We cannot wait for them to enjoy the revitalised décor and elevated design. We have been able to celebrate the history of this iconic property and have enhanced the period features whilst incorporating an elegant modern interior.”
