The Royal Hotel on Isle of Wight brought to market

The Royal features 51 bedrooms and ‘extensive’ function facilities, and has built a reputation as one of the preeminent hotels on the Isle of Wight

The Royal, a hotel located in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, has been brought to market for an undisclosed price after being independently owned and operated by William Bailey since 1994.

Since 1994, the hotel has seen a “substantial” upgrade of its facilities and an expansion of its services on offer to guests, which Bailey states has significantly widened the venue’s customer base.

The hotel also has numerous accolades including a four-silver star 2023 AA hotel accreditation and a 2023 AA two Rosette award for culinary excellence.

According to Bailey, now feels like the right time for him to step back from the hotel and hand it over to new owners to “further develop and enhance this highly successful business for the future”.

The Royal features 51 bedrooms and “extensive” function facilities, and has built a reputation as one of the preeminent hotels on the Isle of Wight.

The historic hotel is also centrally located in Ventnor, close to all town centre amenities, coastline and beaches.

Bailey said: “Whilst it is of course sad to be selling a business with which we have been involved for the last 29 years, now is the right time. We wish a new buyer every success during their ownership of this wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of the Isle of Wight.

“Most importantly we would like to thank the staff, with whom we have shared this memorable journey, for their hard work and dedication over the years.”

Ed Bellfield, regional director at Christie and Co, who is handling the sale, added: “The sale of The Royal Hotel represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a highly successful hotel business with significant repeat patronage, largely due to its continued ownership and continuity within the same family since 1994.

“The reputation and success of the business is testament to the continued re-investment and family stewardship over recent decades combined with its enviable location in the picturesque Isle of Wight. We wish William well on his future plans and the closing of a long-established chapter.”
