The recently refurbished Plough Inn in Wigtown, Scotland, has been brought to market at offers over £340,000, with rental offers also set to be entertained.
The historic licensed hotel features four en-suite bedrooms and a three bedroomed owner/managers accommodation.
The 18th Century, grade-C-listed inn was “saved from ruin” by a recent extensive and sympathetic refurbishment by the current owner.
The site features traditional wood panelling, cast iron radiators, open fires and antique furniture, as well as a “modern state-of-the-art structure providing warmth and comfort”. It also features a bar providing 30 covers, a dining room with an additional 30 covers, a spacious beer garden, well-appointed commercial kitchen, four spacious ensuite bedrooms and a “luxurious” three-bedroom operator’s apartment.
It takes its name from John McNeillie’s book ‘The Wigtownshire Ploughman’, and the site’s link to literature is matched by its location in what is dubbed ‘Scotland’s Book Town’, which features 17 independent book shops and hosts the annual Wigtown Book Festival, attracting visitors over the summer trading months.
Margaret Mitchell of DM Hall’s Business Sales team, who is overseeing the marketing process, said: “The Plough Inn provides a wonderful lifestyle business opportunity for those wanting to run an easily managed well fitted hotel. It is available for sale and also for lease.
“Offers over £340,000 are invited for the goodwill, fixtures and fittings of the business and the freehold interest of the commercial property. The owner would consider a rent with further information being disclosed if required. The trade inventory is not included in the asking price and is available through separate negotiation.”
