The Castle of Comfort hotel in Dodington has been sold to a private individual off a guide price of £1.1m.
The hotel comprises a three star silver award hotel with nine en-suite bedrooms, a 24-cover restaurant, a bar lounge and a three bedroom owners’ cottage.
The Grade II listed building also benefits from a garden with seating for alfresco dining and a heated outdoor swimming pool.
The property sits on 4.12 acres of land with further development potential subject to planning permissions.
It is located 1.5 miles to the west of Nether Stowey, set in the surroundings of the Quantock Hills making it a good base for those wanting to do outdoor activities.
Harriet Fuller, associate director, Hotel Capital Markets, at Savills Exeter which ran the sale, said: “We are glad to have completed the sale of this property on behalf of our clients. The charm and character of the property is undeniable, and manifested by childhood memories of the buyer who actually used to live at Castle of Comfort. The family run business will continue to live on under the ownership of the purchaser.”
