Wolverhampton’s Ramada Park Hall Hotel & Spa has now reopened to overnight guests following a Legionnaires scare.
The hotel has worked with environmental health officers and external experts for the last four weeks and has put in further control measures after an isolated trace of legionella bacteria was found last month.
Meetings and events such as weddings have continued throughout the period thanks to what bosses have called “exceptional” staff efforts and permission from Wolverhampton City Council to carry on catering for day guests.
Hotel managing director Angela Bir said: “We have closely cooperated with the environmental health team to ensure our water management systems are robust and regularly monitored. Nobody has fallen ill and we are grateful to the council for allowing us the opportunity to stay open for functions while this important work took place.
“We’re delighted to open our bedrooms again and to put this behind us. Unfortunately it was inaccurately reported that the whole hotel had closed down. This was never the case.We brought in external water supplies and put in additional safety measures to look after our day guests at functions and are extremely proud of all our staff who have worked tirelessly to offer excellent customer service throughout. Thanks also to all our loyal business meeting and wedding clients who have continued to put their faith in us as their events carried on.”
Bir explained that we have taken advice from a number of consultants and companies during the process of reopening the hotel, and that while required remedial work was undertaken, the hotel was also able to take the opportunity to make other changes including updating flooring and decorating.
Looking forward Bir emphasized that “rigorous monitoring practices” have now been put in place. She added: “We are really pleased to be back fully open. “We have gone to great lengths to look after our day guests in the meantime and can now look forward with confidence to an autumn and winter season packed with some wonderful events, offers and incentives.”
