Whitbread sells stake in Pure

Whitbread owns over 800 Premier Inns across the country and owns brands such as Beefeater and Brewers Fayre

Premier Inn owner Whitbread has sold its 49% stake in healthy eating chain Pure, eight years after acquiring it for £6.8m.

The company acquired the stake in the company which trades as Healthy Retail Limited in 2016 when it had eight restaurants.

A spokesperson for Whitbread stated: “As Pure was not a core part of Whitbread’s strategy, the group has sold its interest to a third party.”

Pure was founded in 2009 and now operates 17 cafés in London and Gatwick Airport, as well as two delivery kitchens.

This news comes after Whitbread saw its profits increase by 44% to £391m in the first half of FY23.

The company’s total UK accommodation sales were up by 15% against last year, and 55% above H1 FY20.

Whitbread also saw high levels of occupancy in its hotels which boosted its F&B business, as F&B sales increased by 10%.

This came after reports surfaced in May that the company was considering selling off the F&B arm of its business.

Whitbread owns over 800 Premier Inns across the country and owns brands such as Beefeater and Brewers Fayre.
