Cairn Hotel Group has announced that 28 of its hotels and three standalone bars and restaurants have received Green Tourism accreditation.
Among these, seven hotels have been awarded the silver certification, and 24 venues have earned the bronze recognition. It said this accomplishment is a “testament to the group’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship”.
Green Tourism, the sustainability accreditation partner, has supported Cairn Hotel Group in its journey towards sustainability. The partnership has allowed the group to align its practices with the highest standards of environmental responsibility.
The accreditation process involved a comprehensive assessment based on 15 sustainability criteria, encompassing the areas of People, Places, and Planet. This holistic approach evaluates the social, economic, and environmental initiatives undertaken by Cairn Hotel Group, ensuring a thorough appraisal of its performance.
Tina O’ Hara, commercial director at Cairn Hotel Group, said: “We are immensely proud to be recognised by Green Tourism for our efforts in sustainability. This accreditation is not just a badge of honour but a continuous commitment to minimising our environmental footprint while enhancing the well-being of our guests, employees, and the local communities. We are dedicated to driving sustainable practices across all aspects of our business and are excited about the positive impact this will have.”
The group has also appointed Sustainability Champions across its venues. These individuals are “pivotal in spearheading sustainability initiatives, promoting environmental awareness, and embedding sustainable practices throughout the organisation”.
