Dakota Hotels joins Carbon Balancing Printing Scheme

Kenway’s scheme calculates the carbon footprint of each job, optimising the process where possible, and subsequently offsets the remaining unavoidable emissions

Dakota Hotels has joined a Carbon Balancing Printing Scheme in partnership with print and stationary partners Kenway.

Carbon balanced printing aims to reduce the carbon impacts of paper and printed communications, such as menus, welcome cards, and bedroom directories – lessening the carbon footprint and impacts on climate change.

Kenway’s scheme calculates the carbon footprint of each job, optimising the process where possible, and subsequently offsets the remaining unavoidable emissions.

The World Land Trust – an international conservation charity protecting the world’s most biologically significant and at-risk habitats – will then purchase the equivalent land with the aim of protecting and restoring threatened tropical habitats across the globe.

Between 1 January and 31 March 2024, Dakota Hotels offset the equivalent of 675kg of CO2 – enabling the World Land Trust to protect 130M2 of habitat across Guatemala, Ecuador, Mexico and Vietnam.

This follows other sustainable initiatives that have been implemented by Dakota Group, such as the installation of solar panels and unveiling electric charging points across multiple locations.

Additionally, the group’s Eurocentral property was the hub for e-buses during COP26, and its hotels promote the use of local produce across its Bar and Grill menus.

The Dakota Hotels Group is due to open Dakota Hotel Newcastle on the city’s quayside in spring 2025.
