Taybank Hotel owner Fraser Potter has acquired the Birnam Hotel and Inn in Perthshire in an off-market private deal for an undisclosed sum.
The Birnam is a Baronial style hotel and features 27-bedrooms of varying sizes and is situated opposite the “well known” Beatrix Potter Garden.
The hotel accommodation is arranged over three floors, plus attic, and has a range of dining and lounge areas such as restaurant, bar, function rooms and magnificent Banqueting Hall.
Additionally, the adjacent Birnam Inn provides an additional and separate F&B facility.
Potter said: “We are committed to preserving the charm and warmth that Scottish Highland hospitality is known for but we want to take it in a new direction-something unexpected, refreshing, and full of character. This will not be a repeat of the Taybank. Our vision for the Birnam Hotel is rooted in Scottish tradition, but reimagined for today’s traveller who seeks something familiar yet entirely new.”
Alistair Letham, a hotel consultant with Graham + Sibbald who handled the sale, added: “The Birnam Hotel is a fine example of a purpose built, in Baronial style, hotel and has been a landmark property in Perthshire for many a year. With local operator, Fraser Potter, taking over the business, plus his plans for the hotel, will ensure the future success of the Birnam Hotel.”
