PPHE Hotel Group has announced that one of its founders, Eli Papouchado, has decided to step aside from his role as non-executive chairman and director of the board with immediate effect.
In light of this, Kent Bradley – the current non-executive deputy chairman – has been appointed as his successor.
Papouchado has taken this decision pending the outcome of an HR-related claim against him by an employee of a company outside of PPHE, but which also names the group as co-respondents.
Despite this decision, Papouchado “strenuously” refutes this claim and is in the process of contesting it.
A founder of the group, Papouchado has held the role of chairman since its formation in 1989.
Over this period, he has been credited with playing an instrumental role in the group’s growth and development, as well as the expansion of the Park Plaza and Art’otel brands across Europe.
In addition, PPHE announced the appointment of Red Sea Group CEO, Roni Hirsch, as non-executive director to its board of directors.
Hirsh has held the chief executive role since 1993. Red Sea Group is controlled by Eli Papouchado, who, together with his family trusts, owns 32.93% of the voting rights.
Having held the chief executive role at Red Sea Group since 1993, he was previously a director of Red Sea Hotels Construction, Red Sea Hotels Promotion and Land, and Ramat Hasharon Properties, each of which was placed into voluntary liquidation.
