A cordon which was in place for several hours following an incident at the Sandringham Hotel in Cardiff City centre has now been lifted.
At approximately 3.15pm yesterday (17 December) South Wales Police received information that threats had been made to people in a city centre hotel.
Staff and residents, as well as occupants of neighbouring buildings, were evacuated as a precaution and no injuries were reported.
South Wales Police have thanked for their “cooperation and assistance”, and officers have now been stood down from the scene following a thorough search of the area, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the source of the report, which is being treated as a hoax.
The police said anyone with any information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact 101, quoting occurrence 1800475427.
