Pine Trees Hotel in Pitlochry welcomed Scottish First Minister John Swinney on 14th March following a multi-million pound refurbishment of the property.
Swinney was hosted by chairman of Apex Hotels, Norman Springford and Pine Trees Hotel Manager David Lapsley, who guided him through the hotel history.
The visit highlighted Swinney’s long-standing involvement in the Perthshire constituency and the hotel’s “positive impact” on the local economy. By creating jobs, sourcing locally and working with businesses and partners across the region, Pine Trees’ has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, stimulating economic growth and reinforcing Pitlochry’s position as the gateway to the Highlands.
Pine Trees is an award-winning country house hotel with 32 appointed rooms, public spaces, and luxury bar and restaurant, Flora and Fauna, where menus feature locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
The hotel embraces the Scottish concept of Coorie, inviting guests to disconnect from modern life and enjoy a “tranquil escape” surrounded by the Highlands.
In 2025, Pine Trees was awarded Green Tourism Gold for its “outstanding” commitment to environmental practices, as well as Boutique Hotel of the Year at the National Hotel Awards Scotland.
Swinney said: ”I was pleased to visit Pine Trees Hotel to view first-hand the stunning refurbishment of the property. The hotel’s transformation is a welcome investment in Pitlochry, reinforcing the town’s status as one of Scotland’s key tourist destinations.
