The Cottage Hotel in Ruddington, near Nottingham, has been acquired by Sue Martin, an employee at the property who has worked there for three years.
The hotel features 22 en-suite rooms, dining and conference spaces, and caters for weddings, corporate functions and community events, and Martin has the intention of refurbishing the hotel for guests as well as creating a community hub.
Martin said: “The hotel has been popular with locals and visitors for many years, but I knew there was more we could do to involve members of the community, particularly those prone to isolation in such a rural location. That’s why we’ve partnered with Bloomin Dementia and host events to bring people together and create a sense of community.
“We’re also refurbishing our bridal suite and event rooms ready for next year’s celebrations, whatever they may be, and we look forward to welcoming people to The Cottage Hotel in the future.”
Sophie Shepard, relationship manager at NatWest, which supported the acquisition, added: “Sue and her team are working hard to make sure the hotel is a destination not only for visitors, but also local people. It’s sometimes the case that popular venues focus on the corporate side of things, but Sue is making sure that everyone feels welcome. We wish Sue and her business the best of luck for the future.”
