In this episode we speak to Nico Tréguer, co-founder of Roberts and Treguer and The Culpeper Family. Nico spoke about founding the group alongside his longtime friend Gareth, having had a vision for bringing more nature spaces to cities, the planned extension of The Buxton in Spitalfields, and how the site’s storytelling engages guests and the local community, how the Culpeper Family’s core sustainability ethos helped it secure its B-Corp status and why hospitality has a responsibility to educate and innovate when it comes to sustainability.

Valor Hospitality has overseen a major refurbishment and rebrand programme at two South East hotels, culminating in the launch of Voco Southampton and Voco Fareham-Solent.

The two new Voco hotels have received extensive investment to create a “premium and personalised” experience with brand new dining and leisure facilities.

The refurbishments have included full bedroom renovations with upgraded furnishings and bedding.

The rebrands have also seen the introduction of sustainable features for both hotels. This includes technology to reduce carbon emissions such as aerated showerheads and energy efficient lighting.

Additionally, at the 130-bedroom Voco Fareham-Solent, the Brickworks Lounge and Grill will offer a premium food and beverage experience and alfresco dining spaces. The name Brickworks pays tribute to the area’s rich brickmaking history.

Meanwhile, with locally-inspired maritime design, the 133-bedroom voco Southampton also has its own restaurant, Atlantic Gate Seafood and Cocktails. Offering seafood and crafted cocktails, Atlantic Gate sits alongside the Gate 8 cruise departure dock.

Both Brickworks and Atlantic Gate form part of Valor Hospitality’s global Savor portfolio, which is designed to create authentic food and beverage experiences, headed up by a team of culinary experts.

The two hotels will also include refurbished event and meeting facilities, with modernised, and versatile spaces that can be hired for weddings, corporate events or social gatherings.

Voco Fareham-Solent has also had its leisure club upgraded with new equipment and refreshed interiors.

The dual rebrand expands the portfolio of Voco hotels following IHG’s launch of the brand in 2018.

On behalf of IHG, Valor Hospitality is also scheduled to oversee a further Voco rebrand later this year. Valor also recently opened Voco Zeal Exeter Science Park, IHG’s first branded net zero carbon hotel launched in partnership with Zeal Hotels.

Valor Hospitality manages 40 hotels in the UK, which has included the delivery of multi-million-pound renovations, upgrades and rebranding exercises on behalf of well-known hotel brands and independent hotels.

Brian McCarthy, president of Valor Hospitality UK and Europe, said: “The rebrands at voco Fareham-Solent and voco Southampton have modernised and reinvigorated both hotels, and the level of detail in the refurbishments has created an inviting environment and experience for guests. Our management of hotels is not just in the operations, but in always raising the bar for our partners and creating destinations where our team members can provide world-class hospitality.”
