The four-star Brantwood Country Hotel in the village of Stainton, to the north of Ullswater and close to Penrith in the Lake District, has been put up for sale for £900k.
It comes as the current owners, Richard and Niki Langley, wish to retire.
Having bought the 18th Century property in 2007, the couple have since developed it into a hotel with a strong reputation amongst locals and tourists for good food, excellent hospitality and cosy accommodation.
The hotel benefits from seven guest bedrooms, in addition to a popular public bar and restaurant, which is said to be known for serving a “traditional and high quality menu with a warm welcome”. The restaurant also has a private dining room for up to 20 people.
According to the property listing on Christie and Co, the sale also includes a “well-presented” two-bedroom owners’ or managers’ cottage adjacent to the hotel.
Richard Langley said: “We knew from the moment we first walked through the door nearly 20 years ago that Brantwood was exactly what we were looking for in a business: great potential, that hosted visitors and locals, and offered food, drink and accommodation whilst being in one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District.
“We have loved our time with Brantwood Hotel and being part of the local community. As we are ready to retire, our final job is to make sure we find a new owner to take over the business with the same enthusiasm we have been able to offer over the years.”
Graham Wilkinson, hotel agent at Christie and Co, added: “It is a pleasure to be invited by Richard and Niki to find a new owner for the Brantwood Country Hotel. The excellent reputation of this business reflects Richard and Niki’s commitment to their guests and the community.”
